I would like to take this time to express my hatred for the radio station known as "HFS" not only do they play CRAP music they have turned what used to be the countrys best festival into MTVs BITCH. Who the fuck wants to see hack bands like 2 skinny js or Ozmotli or Blink 182? what happened to the years of HFStivals when good bands used to play? is it just me? am i to not cool any more because i think Silverchair should stay the fuck in kangaroo land and that beth orton is a dirty englishwomen. please tell me im not the only person who isnt going to the festival this year. I want to encourage everyone to stand up for good music. By going to the festival you are feeding the flames that are MTVs hell.

Ok, HFS may play what all the trendy people want to hear, and suck at it. But why you got to be bustin on 2 Skinnee J's? Hack band? They hit that shit fool. You really have to listen to all of their stuff to appreciate the music. HFS doesn't play but one song from every band over and over again. That's why they suck and all ways will. Anyway my point it 2 Skinnee J's pump. O and this Will and Jessica pissing contest rocks, but so far it still looks like Jessica loses.

ok, i do like 2 skinny js, i even went to see them at the 8x10 last year, i guess i was trying to say that i dont think they are a stadium typr band. there are some bands that are GOLDEN in the "club" but you totaly miss out on alot of what makes them good in a "stadium" thats what i was trying to get it. and thanks for all your support.

You attacked beth orton because she's English! do you have any idea where modern music today would be if English artists hadn't influenced us Americans? (I'm not saying I like beth orton...I'm just using this example to say that your argument made no sense.) All Jessie was trying to point out was that there are other opinions besides your own. Seems to me life would be pretty boring if every one were exactly like you. Or me, for that matter. Our differences are what makes life interesting! Saying that someone isn't entitled to like a certain kind of music is essentially saying that they aren't entitled to their own opinion. So when do we take their freedom of speech away? We've already taken away their freedom to think for themselves.

From about 1990 on MTV has pretty much been musically dead. So why are you so worried about telling us all that MTV is hell? Do you think that everyone in the cult doesn't already know this? How stupid do you think your fellow cult members are? I'm sure some aren't exactly the coldest beers in the fridge (namely you) but I think pretty much everybody knows that MTV is crap. So calm down pal, and stop beating a dead horse. And do you know who you are actually supporting when you buy a ticket to the HFStival? Not only does your money go to HFS, it also goes to promotion companys like cellar door, IMP, etcetera. These companies are the reason why bands like your precious Rammstien get to play anywhere near the Baltimore, DC area. And in your opinion, not mine, mind you, the bands that these promotion companies bring in are in exact opposition to the whole MTV media machine. You ought to get the full story before trying to argue about somethong that you obviously know nothing about.

ok i would like to point out several things. first of all the term "your precius rammstien" does not apply to me. second of all just because HFS gives money to charities and stuff like that doesnt mean that they are not making stupid amounts of money off the HFStival. in case you havent been to a festival i will clue you in. it might as well be called the HFScomericial. fom the second you walk into the gates till the moment you are bombarded by everycompany out there trying to sell you something, signup for something or vote. and heres the amazing part: those companys just dont "happen" to be there! they pay mad cash to have a spot at the festival. if people didnt go to the HFStival then the sponsers would not make money off it and then HFS wouldnt make money. As far as beth orton goes she is a dirty dirty englishwomen. i lived in england for 2 years and i have never seen such horrible personal hygene. they may havecontributed some (but not much) good stuff to the modern rock scene but they certianly contributed NOTHING to the wash yourself and brush your teeth scene. secondly refering to the fine citizens of this proud country as "us americans" like we couldn't write good music until the oh so great english gave us a hand just makes you sound stupid. as far as MTV is concerened it is hell and i hate it more then the devil. plus your spelled weak wrong, you spelled it week which means the 7 day period of days that most people base their schedual around. i also dont see that how these bands that are at the festival are the exact opposite of MTV since a) the festival is sponsered in part by MTV and b) its the same bands that MTV plays over and over and over all day and all night. and jessie was not pointing out that there were other opinions then my own, she was making herself look like an idiot by putting other people down in a vain attempt to be cool. fortunatly we all saw through it and maybe now she realizes what a bad idea it is to talk shit to people.

wow Will, good for you. It's good that you know so much about music. I know that you are in a band and you play, so thats one up for you.That means you are one of the ferw out there doing this shit for real, so I can trust you somewhat. I've heard half your CD, and I don't really like industrial to begin with, but you seemed as good as anyone else out there. I don't want to get into a fight with you, you seem smart enough. I'm basically tired of arguing about the fucking HFStival. I'm not going and I probably never will. I know that most of the dollars for the show go to HFS and come from MTV, so thats that I guess. So maybe we should go picket them now, right? hehe. This huge wave of apathy has come over me. I'm tired. I wasn;t saying that the bands at the HFStival are the opposite of what MTV is about. More than half of them are in bed with MTV execs right now I'm sure. What I was saying was that the smaller bands that smaller companies bring in are normally closer to our own level of thinking than MTV bands. I was just trying to point out that smaller companies do make some money too. But then again, its probably safe to use the analogy that the money they make is closer to the crumbs falling from the master's table. The question is, how can we work to change this? Maybe someone would like to post a solution to the MTV problem. But is there one solution? Who knows?

dave you don't know who i am and i don't know who you are. but your more or less saying that all the money comes from and goes to MTV, well you are WRONG. over half the money that is made at HFS goes to charities. and some of the bamds that play HFS go it for very little money.

if you think HFS is in it for anything BUT the money then you are a sad lonely misguided sheep. maybe you didnt realize this but by making large charitable donations companys can save big bucks when it comes to TAX TIME! do you really think HFS wants to be a "good nieghbor?" no, but if being charitable = more money for them you better believe they're gonna donate.

I don't know about HFS in particular, but my father was a financial planner for a short time and he encountered many businesses that made charitable donations because in the end it actually saved them money on taxes and other things, in addition to giving them good publicity.

Well excuse me for butting in here but Dave, first off a lot of the shit you say in here you totally counter agree with in the next forum post you put up. Frankly, i find the HFStival to be a fun experience regardless of the bands, and if you think im gonna skip up a fun experience cuase the money goes to greedy fat cats then you are wrong. Thats the stupidest reason to not have fun. No matter where you go, whether its to an ammusement park, skiing, put-put golf, or a concert, the money is always going to money hungry sharks. Thats how people make a living. Im not any less a man for paying for fun, aka, paying some random mans salary. Well on May 29th when im at the HFStival having fun, you may have your fun sitting in your basement arguing this post some more.
