RE: Korn, Limbizkit, Rammstein, Orgy, etc.

Actually, my arguement about them selling lots of records makes perfect sense. If you sell alot of records, it must mean people are listening to you. I do not know a single person who will buy a record and then like leave it somewhere untouched. It would make no sense. The word "popularize" you totally shun i see. So what exactly is it when a band gets "popular" or "sells out?" I am sure there are a few bands out there in it for fun, but most want to get big and well known and cash in on it. Is that considered selling out? Cause if it is, its the aim of almost all bands. RAMMSTEIN had their chance to make it big in america, so they took it, for whatever reason the fans are buying the albums they are getting payed. Thats alot better then having a kick ass band making no money, and working at McDonalds to pay for equipment and shit. And I see Will talking about this alot, i agree with what you say about HFS and MTV, they can both go fuck themselves for all i care. I mean i enjoy the bands that are out there that get almost no recognition, (VAST, GLU, etc...) but i also enjoy listening to KoRn, RAMMSTEIN, Limp Bizkit, etc... Dave, you say these bands are "against what the machine stands for." I dunno about this, ive never really heard them say shit like "We hate MTV" or "Screw being popular and well known and rich, we just want to show how much we dont want to be sell-outs." I dont hear this. So i dont see what you are arguing here either. You say its because they are on a major label, so what. Whats that gotta do with anything? You also say you used to listen to Limp Bizkit yourself but stopped, i dont get why? What makes them different now then when you used to listen to them? You also say "You'll notice that while their music is slightly metal inspired, it comes no where close to being the real thing. They may seem hard or cutting edge, but if MTV even mentions them or plays their videos, how cutting edge can they really be?" Well i first saw Godsmack on Mtv, and they are cool like hell. Maybe im taking your definiton of cutting edge wrong or something, but without exposure on things like radio and televison how is a band ever gonna get heard? You gonna just walk into a record store point and buy?
