RE: Korn, Limbizkit, Rammstein, Orgy, etc.

Dave is right about the sellout thing, but keep in mind that a band has no control over their poularity. The record-buying public is fickle, and it's hard to predict what they'll jump at next. There's plenty of good bands that follow the same "sell-out" pattern, but nobody complains, because they deserve it. My complaint is more along the lines of "they suck". I am a musician. I play the guitar, bass and the drums. Because of this, I tend to be a little more critical of bands because i know what goes into the work that they distribute. Korn, limp bizkit, kid rock, and any of those other flavor-of-the-month bands (including rammstien, but i DO enjoy listening to them. They're just really crunchy.) are completely devoid of any musical merit or tecnical prowess. I miss the 80's. For anyone who likes music with a little effort, check out anything from the scorpions, ratt, winger (don't laugh! that guitar player kicks ass!), steve vai, joe satriani, and early van halen. As for any of today's bands, the only "non-sellout" band I can think of is pantera. They really kick ass. And they STILL aren't mainstream, despite 2 (3?) platinum albums.
