That's odd, Caleb. Which "ex-Dying Fetus" member is in that band? I met the guitar player from Dying Fetus at The Blarney Stone in Fells Point. I didn't believe him, but then I saw him in Origin, opening for Nile. Those sneaky Dying Fetus members.

according to their bio all of them were at on point or another in Dying Fetus or contributed to a Dying Fetus album or two...

I went back and did some research. The dude I saw in Origin is Paul Ryan. After poring through Origin/Dying Fetus history, I have determined that he was never in DF, although he is a spitting image of the guy I met at the bar. This means that:
1. The guy I met at the bar is a charlatan, or
2. He's in some other band with ex-Dying Fetus members.
Suffice to say, he is not Paul Ryan, who is in Origin but never DF.
Not that this important at all. Who is going to Six Feet Under? I might go.

Thats a very nice hierarchy Nick. However, I'm disappointed that it has only one level. I'd like to see the children of thrash, if any. Also, the 'etc' is a bit vague. I require a slightly more comprehensive guide. Most importantly, I'd be interested in how these styles differ and if they overlap (if so perhaps a Venn Diagram is in order?). Keep up the good work.

OK, In Flames is almost upon us. Even though their last album was horrible, I'm sure they'll play some of the good stuff. Sentenced and D.T. will be a lot of fun to see as well. For anyone that doesn't know about Sweden, you are encouraged to go.
