THE CULT gets new address

.. and I have to foot the bill
As you all know, well - most of you, Monolith Internet Services (ml.org) shut down late last year. ALL ml.org domains (including thecult.ml.org) will work no longer after April 1999.
Because of this situation we wanted to acquire thecult.net. A few days before I decided I actually was going to buy it, some company (XTML Creative Ltd.) decided to take it. After two days of discussion, we decided on netcult.org. We WILL be moving there gradually. Once http://netcult.org/ will work in your browser (it probably should already) I suggest that you go there instead. Everything is exactly the same.
On a sadder note, domains cost money, and since THE CULT has none I have to pay for it. So, if anyone wants to donate they can do so (it has cost me $70 so far for netcult.org) and I'll make sure they get cool stuff (web space, ftp, shell, etc). There is a concert planned (CULTaid) that should be happening some time this summer. Stay tuned to the newz for more. - #4 b0b
For those of you who don't understand the logic behind getting netcult.org rather than another name, I'll explain it now. First of all, we are an organization, not a network or commercial group. This rules out thecult.net and thecult.com. An ideal address to replace our old one would've been thecult.org, but it has been owned for a group in Waco, TX for at least a year. We had planned on settling for thecult.net until recently when it was purchased (we were still in the planning phase for getting money). Fortunately, b0b has taken the initiative this time and purchased netcult.org to ensure that we don't lose another potential domain. Netcult.org was decided on because THE CULT is a large organization and even by visiting our website, you can never experience the mass gathering of CULT members. Netcult is simply the internet component of THE CULT. At this point, it should become clear to you why we made the decision. You will be very pleased with the decision and give b0b lots of money. « replies »

I dunno, netcult.org just doesnt have the same feel as thecult.ml.org
If its not too late, (i.e. money not sent yet) Put up a few suggestions and let the members help decide what the new name should be.
