CULTaid - coming Summer 1999

This summer we want to have a huge amazing CULT concert to make a statement that a bunch of determined people can make something big happen. We need a few things from you guys though. My email is lcracker@netcult.org, feel free to use it if you can any way help us with any of the below:
BANDS! - If you're in a band, or know one.. Let us know if they will play. We plan to make 1,000 (silver, manufactured, in jewel case) CD's too so if you are planning on making a demo CD hold off on that and we'll hook you up! We have studio facilities and CD mastering capability so don't pass this up. Bakufu, SyntheticdreaM, and whoever else that is interested should contact me ASAP.
A PLACE - We need a place to have this thing, its gotta hold at least 200 people and we want it cheap too because we don't have too much capital to start off with this year (it's pretty much coming out of MY pocket, like everything else does...). If you have relatives that own something big, or you just know of somewhere we could have it, let me know! We're looking for somewhere in Montgomery county preferably.
SPONSORS - If your parents own a company, or you have a lot of cash in your drawers that you're willing to put into this thing, we need to know! As for the sponsors, they'll get great advertisement (flyers, tshirts, cd's, internet, etc...). As a service to the sponsors we can also provide professional web design and hosting services at very low cost to them. We're putting a LOT of effort into this thing and are willing to work for it. If you on the other
hand have a bunch of cash you'd like to help us out with, we need some for initial capital (so I don't have to put it all on my bill) and you will get it all back (maybe even more) after the concert. If you know a place that does printing (banners, flyers, buisness cards, tshirts, etc..) or has music or computer equipment and could help us out with that, that would be just as good as money.
If all goes well, we will have a HUGE party, and will have people from all over Maryland coming. If we get enough money we will also have a big [action] Quake competition the next day if the interest is high enough! There probably won't be much profit after this is all over and done, but if there is it will go straight back into making more concerts and parties like this happen! We're obviously not lookin to make money here, its just for fun. « replies »

SyntheticdreaM who is performing at the CultAid concert this summer is playing at bellis' on march 11th. it is an 18 and older show but im sure many of you can find a way to get there. bellis' is in frederick and if u have any questions contact Rev Will or CoDy (UMBC rep)

i might be able to get another band to play CULTaid. its like a punk/hardcore/alternative band... i think. i've never heard them play, but i'm pretty sure they'll play. and if my band ever gets together to practice, we might be able to play too. so, there's more bands.

For what its worth, we (my band) decided to play yard parties and small clubs this year, only thing is, only 2 of us are still high-school age, the rest of us are 33-40something. If intrested, hop on over to www.asbestosrockpile.8m.com to see and hear us (shrunk mp3's) and see or list of songs we play.
