Power Outtage at DHS

Further Proof that DHS is Ghetto.

Well they must've had ALL the hairdryers on in the photo lab yesterday at school, because at about 7AM, two minutes after I got to school, the lights all went out for a minute, then the emergency generator kicked in. So when we got to the first class of the day, Mr. Berry's AP english, the lights were still on for a few minutes. Now I'll explain our school's wonderful system of emergency power. The priorities are keeping the office power on (so they can do whatever it is they do), the hallways, and the security system motion detectors. Notice how classrooms are left out of the picture. However, I suppose the most important thing is that the motion detectors work so we don't steal anything while fumbing around in the dark. This wasn't too bad for us, other than the fact that we had to talk about Jane Austen's Persuasion rather than watching a video like Berry had planned. Dr. Bastress (principal) didn't have much to say when he finally got on the PA - "We will only know about closing school if we have a serious situation, like not having power to the cafeteria." School was not cancelled because the power came back on halfway through 4th period, though it didn't matter to most of us, who went on a field trip to the Olney theatre.

I like how Dr. B considers an emergency not having power in the cafeteria. Heaven forbid we should not be able to eat. It's okay if we are cold and without lights in our classrooms, as long as when lunchtime comes around, there is food.
