PVB Experience 1999

Posted by #43 Will Miller at 05-03-1999 3:04 PM

Well, I'd say that the Potomac Valley Bank(PVB) trip as a whole wasn't as exciting as last year, since the cops only came through once and not even with tear gas. I'm sure we all missed the riot aspect of getting festival tickets.

The nightime festivities included rollerblading, shopping cart races, music or just sitting around. Will Saxton and b0b should have pics/video up soon for those who weren't there. At 11:45, the lights to PVB's parking lot went out. We started recruting people for THE CULT a little after midnight. Some people are a little too afraid of the name of THE CULT, saying we should change it and we'd get more people. Like that'll ever happen.

For the most part, it did remain organized in the morning: everyone ran over at 6am and got in line. The front of the line had Ethan Baker (2nd), then Cary and Alex, then me. The mall security guy was REAL cool, continually threatening to not give us tickets or call the county police if we didn't get in a single file line. Our places in line were soon pushed back by people who just showed up and cut in front of us. Ah well, no use getting pissed off over it - we got our tickets.

On a side note to PVB 1999, I called up WHFS from #2 in line and got through. I managed to (though speaking fast) plug the cult web page. I verified that this DID GET ON THE AIR! The cult has now been mentioned on WHFS! - #267 Ethan Baker

The tickets sold out in 88 minutes, which is still pretty quick considering they added 15,000 tickets this year. ThStival will be May 29th at the new PSI.net (our T1 provider) stadium.

Ahh yes, and cheezus dont forget about my brother Patrick, who was right up there in the front with us. By the way, for next year, just so you all know, my uncle Charlie is the manager/owner of PSI.net, so next year i can get us like 50 free tix like way beofre they go on sale. So then when we camp out we all buy only to scalp, and for the expierince of camping out of course. But im sure it can be said, regardless of the lack of cops, we all had a pretty nice, time, thanks to Doonan's grill and "that long haired guy's" chicken wings, and of course Justin "gumball."
