Woohoo, well b0b, k-rad and I all went back to talk to school security today, to clear up things from yesterday about action quake and the purpose of THE CULT. We're obviously not interested in seeing anyone get hurt next monday or ANY day, and made this clear to them.
I believe the concern with THE CULT has been eliminated at least by school security. The police still have a negative connotation about THE CULT, but this isn't really something we need to worry about since nothing is going to happen on Monday. They did need a little reassurance as to Ben's and "tHe bLiNd gUy"'s stability, but hopefully our conversatoin was worthwhile, eliminating concern on both sides: ours of any real incidents with the police and theirs of any threat from us or people we know.
Lastly, everyone can stop complaining about the security. They did misunderstand a few KEY things about THE CULT and the messages left on the graffiti wall, but they didn't contact Ben or b0b solely because of their connection to THE CULT. The reason they were called in for a conference was because they were both referred by the tipline, meaning that it's not security's fault, but some kids who thought they know more about Ben and b0b than they really did. The rest of the "interviews" was their attempt to get to know the students that they spoke with. M.Canfield said he thought that material on THE CULT and /sonuvbob was inappropriate, although S.Clark said she did find some of it humorous.
MCPS superintendent Paul Vance has released a statement saying "people need to know that the rumors are unsubstantiated". He also clearly stated that "the rumor is a hoax designed to frighten and disrupt". This statement agrees with security's opinion that it's not likely anything will happen, although they will be keeping their eyes open. We were all certain that nothing would happen before, but perhaps this will spell it out more for the concerned parents who want to save their children from society.
Thanks again for your concern (and graffiti wall tags) « replies »

well, all in all, CULTinvestivation 99 worked out very well indeed. We got MAD content. And I mean content like we've never had content. Plus, we got some serious conversation on the wall. And we proved THE CULT isn't Bad(tm).

We definitely did get a lot of activity on THE CULT because of this incident and I'm just glad that I haven't had a single person ask to be removed from THE CULT because they (or their parents) are afraid of school administration. In fact, we've had _support_ from parents.
Despite the name, THE CULT isn't about causing trouble or anything. You all know that, but apparently the person who decided to call the tip line on ben and I didn't think so. I'd really like to know what the hell they were thinking when they called the tip line on me, anybody that knows me at all should know that THE CULT and myself are harmless.
