Alright well, there was the DHS prom, then there was some post prom activity, (stopping by at Kait's), then the post prom party for some, sleep for others. Sleep was a good thing for people who were driving the next day... which brings us to the festival.
Apparantly some people got there really early - Ethan was with a crew at the aquarium at 8:30am, making a lot of noise I'm sure. Most people left Damascus between 8:30 and 9:00am, trying to get to Sev on the outer stage at 10:15am. I missed them, just cause it took too long to get there, but everyone says they only had a half hour set anyways. Sounds like HFS really had a lot of faith in their ability to perform. "Hmm... yeah, the local guys we promised could play.. put them as the opening band of the outer stage - they can play for like five minutes, then we'll let the others start." Next time they can let one of the other outer stage bands open and Sev can have a little time to play. Anyways, if you missed them or want to see more, take your festival ticket stub to their show at Nations on June 5th 8pm. They'll be playing with Modern Yesterday and Team Demolition. Visit www.24sev.com for more details.
For the most part, the rest of the festival was weak in comparison to past years. But, it's still the festival, so it's going to be fun regardless. The Trancemissions tent was cool - we got to see Moby (and a lot of stoners dancing). His new album, "Play", is in stores tomorrow. After that, I saw a bit of Orgy, then Sugar Ray, Live, Goo Goo Dolls and Offspring. Offspring was damn rough, not to meantion hot. They rocked with the oldskool though, every song had the field moving. The Chili Peppers closed, introducing a few new songs from their new album "Californification".
The field got trashed, especially when some people started a fire during the end of the Chili Peppers. A lesson for next year - don't ever try to find someone. You will only find people that you aren't looking for. If they're looking for you, you won't find them. Set places to meet, early.
Lastly, there was something on the telescreen that said "Only twice in the year of 1999: May 29th and September 25th" Whatever it is, it might be worth going to. « replies »

Well, I thought it sucked compared to the past two years. I've heard a lot of the same from everyone else. SeV was cool as always, as were Freestylers and 2 Skinny J's. Moby was definitely awesome in the rave tent, and RHCP would've been cooler if I had been able to stay awake.

The festival may not have been all that fun, but for me and carol it was chock full of new adventures. Not only did we get to watch close up Jeremiah and Joe getting their tongues pierced for the second time, we got to use the guys bathroom. It was well...interesting. WE realize now why male bonding takes place and we feel as though we have broken thru some barrier, but we're not quite sure what it is. Anyways, Carol and I got our asses kicked during Orgy, so we crowd surfed out, but to opposite sides of the stadium, but found each other because we set a meeting place(good idea boys...) Ok, well thats it!!
