ICP Hallowicked Show [The Majestic, Detroit]

Posted by #43 Will Miller at 10-31-1999 9:26 PM

I'm not sure if there were any other CULT members at last night's Hallowicked show in Detroit, but there were definitely a LOT of juggalos. The whole experience ruled, as it was more intense than a DC show anyday.

Our small yet determined CULT representation consisted of Ben (#3), b0b (#4), K-rad (#9) and Rob (#954), departing from UMCP at 4am on Saturday and picking me up from Damascus. (Denny's in Bumfuck, PA early in the morning is like the twilight zone.) We got to our hotel around 1:30pm, then headed off to get food, chilled at a nearby mall for a while, then started to get our clown makeup on for the show.

Pics will be up soon. b0b, Rob and I wore the makeup, while k-rad and Ben went as an assasin (who stabs people) and a dead body, respectively.

The Majestic is a kickass venue - our parking was free, the ceiling is 2 stories above, the whole place was decorated in ICP banners and the Faygo was plentiful. It holds probably the same or a little less people than the 9:30 Club, since it doesn't have a balcony area. Standing in line was as cool as waiting can get since everyone was yelling, etc. The netCULT stickers were fairly well distribued, we'll see if any actually surb

The Pimps opened - not bad, but basically your generic opening band. Twiztid appeared after seemingly the entire room chanted their name. The audience participation was definitely a lot more than in DC, since people actually knew their songs and who they were. If you haven't yet heard Twiztid, at least take the time to get an mp3 or two, they're definitely worth a listen.

ICP obviously kicked ass to say the least, the crowd was probably 90% hardcore fans. Violent J and Shaggy did about half new and half old stuff, which would never happen anywhere else. Chicken Hunting was a little crazy, Ben quickly lost his glasses when some nice guy pushed him into the pit. One of the things that pissed me off a bit was that Shaggy threw his jersey into the crowd so about 10 people fought over it for like 4 songs. By that time it was probably just pieces of Shaggy's jersey. J looked at them and just shook his head. When they played Lil' Somethin' Somethin' [Riddlebox], they had a bunch of juggalo chicks come up on stage. At the end of the song, J picked up a few girls and threw them off the stage, down into the crowd. For the very end, they played Murder Go Round (EP) and had everyone come up on stage.

We got a decent rest at the hotel and then headed out early after stocking up on Faygo at the grocery store. ICP is coming to Baltimore on November 16th - be there if you're in Maryland.

Hellz yeah. But I have a few things to add,
Chicken Hunting was more than a little crazy.. I heard the first note and I was like FUCK YES and then proceeded to kick some ass. That was the 2nd song they played and after that the moshing kinda died down. Also, Dog Beats actually came in the middle somewhere. The song they played last when everyone got on stage (very tight) was Murder Go Round. And also: I stab people (I stabbed 3 times, he was like "What the fuck!?" so I stabbed him in the gut).

Inner City Posse got the dog beats. ICP got the dog beats.

We only got a little faygo.. you know, 3 cases of cans, and like 15 2L's and a 3L. Enough to fill the mothafuckin trunk.

Good show, chicken hunting was phat as hell, murder go round at the end was painful but worth it. Being on stage is cool. 10 hour drives are long.
